BROOKFIELD, Wis. — May 18, 2014 — Honeywell (NYSE: HON) HomMed, a global leader in telehealth and remote patient care, today unveiled the newest version of its wireless remote patient monitor – the Genesis Touch™ 3.0 – featuring more peripheral device options as well as a new “Emphasis on Education” initiative, which provides expansive educational content for device users.

Designed to empower patients through access to disease-specific information, the new version of the Genesis Touch features a full suite of educational content to support the user’s self-guided education –at the touch of a button.  The library of content available includes questions and information specific to diseases such as diabetes and chronic heart failure (CHF), as well as more general topics such as diet, pain management, medications and exercise.

"Industry data supports what healthcare providers tell us every day – patients with access to condition-specific information outside the hospital or their doctor’s office have higher rates of compliance and satisfaction, as well as more successful health outcomes," said John Bojanowski, president of Honeywell HomMed.  "The new educational content provided by the Genesis Touch gives patients access to questions and information specifically provided for them by their own healthcare provider, as well as a full library of additional information – right at their fingertips."

In addition to the new educational content, the Genesis Touch 3.0 features an expanded range of supported peripheral devices to address the needs of patients with a variety of risk factors and specialized monitoring requirements.  New peripherals include two new Bluetooth pulse oximeter options, as well as one new Bluetooth scale.

“With the new features available, as well as its existing offerings such as one-touch video, the Genesis Touch continues to provide an easy-to-use platform for enhanced patient engagement across the care continuum,” said Mr. Bojanowksi.

The Genesis Touch’s product offering also includes the following:

  • A One-Touch Video feature allows patients to simply touch the “Video” button on the tablet’s screen to be linked into a scheduled video conference call with up to 12 other parties.
  • In addition to a 3G cellular network, as well as integrated Wi-Fi capabilities, the Genesis Touch has a 4G cellular communications option.  Customers who want to use the integrated 4G cellular radio can purchase a 2G plan through Honeywell for less than the cost of a traditional data plan, which will enhance the clarity of the device’s video technology to ensure patients have access to the technology support they need, whether they are at home or on the go.
  • As an FDA-registered personal health device, the Genesis Touch delivers stability and enhanced security for patient users, securing patient data to meet HIPAA requirements.  A tamper-resistant interface protects the device and its information from the threat of viruses.
  • Scheduled Vitals automates the process for patients to collect and report their vitals and/or take medication, per healthcare provider specification.  Providing these automatic reminders for patients who are collecting vitals has been shown to increase patient compliance to rates as high as 90 percent.
  • Spanish-language support provides menus, prompts, educational tools and questions from the healthcare provider in Spanish, mitigating the effect of any language barriers that may exist.

As with all Genesis personal health devices, the Genesis Touch will be supported on the healthcare provider side by the LifeStream Management Suite, which seamlessly integrates the patient’s device-collected information and other point-of-care applications into a single cloud-based platform, allowing patients, families and healthcare providers easy, secure access to patient information via the Internet.
